Treepl / WebInOne Hosting Transition, Platform Upgrade

As you are likely aware, as of October 2024, the website hosting company Treepl.co is officially rebranding to WebInOne.com and upgrading their hosting platform and infrastructure.

While in simple terms, this is a positive development for current Treepl hosting customers, there are a few caveats.

  1. Treepl vs. WebInOne Brand
    1. Treepl.co has rebranded to WebInOne.com
      https://webinone.com/blog/say-goodbye-to-treepl
    2. The former Treepl technical development and support team remain the same.
    3. The former Treepl management team remains in place.
    4. Details regarding the go-forward ownership of the new firm have not been shared with Treepl Partners.
    5. Treepl Resale Partners will become WebInOne Resale Partners.
    6. Amplify Digital Marketing Corporation is a Treepl Resale Partner.
    7. At the time of this writing, the WebInOne Terms of Service are unchanged when compared with the former Treepl terms:
      https://webinone.com/terms-of-service
    8. At the time of this writing, the WebInOne Privacy Policy is largely unchanged when compared with the former Treepl policy:
      https://webinone.com/privacy-policy
    9. At the time of this writing, the WebInOne Security Overview is largely unchanged when compared with the former Treepl overview:
      https://webinone.com/security-overview

  2. Treepl version 6.11 vs. WebInOne v7.x Hosting & Platform Features
    1. In 2023, Treepl.co announced plans for both its rebranding to WebInOne.com and it's vision for improvements to the underlying content management and CRM systems.
    2. They further announced that former Treepl version 6.11 system customers would be allowed to remain subscribed to the v6.11 infrastructure until September 1st 2025. After that date, the service will be capped at 10K CRM records, 2K system and custom module records, and a maximum of 25 custom properties per custom module.
      https://webinone.com/blog/new-pricing-release-schedule
    3. Customer websites that exceed those v6.11 limitations will require a site migration to v7.x.
    4. They further announced that the version 6.11 infrastructure would be maintained, particularly with regards to security protocols, on a go-forward basis.
    5. They announced that v6.11 infrastructure would not receive any major feature upgrades going forward, and that the new v7.x infrastructure would be required in order to take advantage of net new features.
    6. The vast majority of v6.11 features have been included in the initial 7.x release.
    7. Certain Beta Extensions will disabled on v6.11 sites, though in our experience these features were not often utilized by end hosting customers.
    8. Domain modification restrictions will be placed on editing primary domains, adding new domains, or configuring multiple start pages on v6.11. This means if your website uses different domain names to reach unique start pages on your website, you will be impacted negatively if your do not upgrade to v7.x.
    9. Treepl/WebInOne have been reasonably transparent regarding their approach to development of new features and services, as detailed on their Public Backlog summary:
      https://webinone.com/cms-wish-list
    10. If desired by the Customer, Amplify would assist with the upgrade of the Customer website from v6.11 to v7.x.

  3. Treepl vs. WebInOne Hosting Pricing
    1. Predominantly, the new WebInOne pricing model is evaluated on a 'consumption' model, rather than the aggregate packages of Treepl.co's recent years. All packages include storage, traffic bandwidth, administrative accounts and now 'item' qualifiers
    2. eCommerce features are now an 'add-on' service, tiered to accommodate single or multiple transaction currencies, with Stripe.com payment processing by default, and a promise to include Apple, Google and Amazon Pay, Square, Afterpay, Sofort adnd Klarna in the near future.
    3. Other features are now considered 'Extensions', and these include Advanced Backup, Comments/Ratings/Threads, Custom Reports, Email Accounts, Events, Zapier Automation, and Multiple Domains. This items are charged on a per-inclusion, plus consumption basis.
    4. WebInOne sites that are predominantly data-driven using Blogs, Catalogues, Custom Modules must consider the impact of additional consumption (currently tiered at 50 / 1000 /2500 content item records).
    5. The WebInOne partner portal includes a transition pricing tool which assesses an existing v6.11 website content footprint, then estimates the future v7.x monthly charges.
    6. In our intial experience, some v6.11 hosting customers have experienced a modest drop in hosting fees, though those with more complex, data-driven solutions have experienced increases.
    7. Amplify will perform this assessment on each hosting account and share the estimates directly with customers.

WebInOne Partner of Record

We have been working with WebInOne to help describe the transition process for transitioning Customers.

If you choose to transition your Treepl/WebInOne hosting account to Amplify Digital Marketing Corporation, the following conditions will apply.

  1. Please Note: WebInOne has confirmed that they will WAIVE the administrative transfer fees for A3CS Customers who transition to Amplify Corp (2024-11-05). Treepl/WebInOne will charge each transitioning web hosting account holder a $100 USD administrative fee. Amplify has no influence over this cost, nor is Amplify compensated for the transition.
  2. Amplify will receive administrative access to your web hosting account administrative features, and
  3. Amplify-authorized technical staff will receive access to your web hosting account content management features, in order to assist with updates, backups, and content or technical revisions as you determine.
  4. Amplify will then manage your hosting account on a go-forward basis.

How is the Partner of Record Transition Performed?

There are a few coordination steps required to transition a web hosting account from the 'releasing' Partner (in this case A3 Creative Solution) to the 'acquiring' Partner (Amplify Digital Marketing Corporation).

  1. The Customer must expressly consent to the change, by way of email to support@webinone.com, copied to A3C and Amplify.
  2. Each of the releasing and acquiring partner will confirm the customer intent via email to support@webinone.com
  3. IF the customer has a payment relationship directly with Treepl/WebInOne, no changes will be required to their current hosting subscription.
  4. IF the customer has a payment relationship with the 'releasing' Partner, this would need be cancelled, and a new billing subscription established with the 'acquiring' Partner and WebInOne.
  5. Amplify will then assist Customers as needed to help facilitate these steps.
  6. Please note, we understand that the hosting transition may require a few minutes of website availability downtime, dependant upon the scale and complexities of each individual website's underlying database. WebInOne has indicated that they will perform  transitions in the overnight hours when site traffic is generally at it's lowest. The Customer website should not experience any downtime or unavailability through this transition.
